National Freedom Day PA represents Juneteenth National Freedom Day in Pennsylvania. We serve as the Commonwealth's statewide educational, historical, and community resource for Juneteenth.

Our mission is to preserve the history of Juneteenth recognition in the Commonwealth and serve as Pennsylvania's statewide educational, historical, and community resource for Juneteenth.

This website serves as a complement to the primary archive at theapexmanager.com/juneteenth, which documents the history of Pennsylvania's Juneteenth recognition in detail, including the contributions of Stanley Lawson, Carolyn Mills (Nee Lawson), Gary Lawson, and Representative Sue Helm.

Our Purpose

What We Do

Three interconnected goals guide the work of National Freedom Day PA.

Historical Preservation

Documenting and preserving the history of Juneteenth recognition in Pennsylvania, including the contributions of community leaders, legislators, and advocates who helped make Act 9 of 2019 a reality.

Community Connection

Building a statewide network of Juneteenth organizations, churches, schools, and community groups across all five regions of Pennsylvania, from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh, Erie to Harrisburg.

Events & Celebration

Serving as the central hub for Juneteenth events across Pennsylvania, connecting event organizers with communities statewide and helping Pennsylvanians find and participate in local celebrations.
